information

Text of Music Phrase is a unique publication. Barry Harvey has provided
a most comprehensive work which will be invaluable to drummers,
all percussionists, and indeed to all musicians. The approach
to phrasing and rhythms is as thoughtful as it is fascinating.
The Australian College of Music has used much of this work in
the Contemporary Percussion Syllabus which is soon to be released.
Text of Music Phrase deserves very wide
exposure in music circles.

Modern Drummer Magazine:
Dear Barry,
Your book has some good ideas and can be
daunting in the later pages of text, however these hurdles can
be negotiated by simply contacting the author any time.
Modern Drummer Reviewers.

Dear Reader,
I have known Barry Harvey in a professional
capacity for a period of thirty years. In my opinion I consider
him to be one of the foremost drummers in Australia and over
the years we have exchanged many musical ideas. As a music teacher
myself , I can see that with Mr. Harvey's knowledge and talent
, his book can only be a very positive step for any drummer to
work with.
Yours sincerely,
Jackie Orszaczky. (musical genius, bass
player, arranger ).

Dear Music Lover ,
I've known Barry for many years and began
taking lessons even before he started writing the "Text
of Music Phrase". Through all the years of seeing this book
unfold and after it's completion I can truthfully say that it
has been a truely wonderful journey ; sometimes frustrating ,
often hugely rewarding and finally the most fullfilling journey
I have ever undertaken. The beauty of it is that it shows no
sign of ending.!
The methods and concepts are always well defined and while
some are seemingly " far-out ", perserverence and practice
will ensure full understanding and application in all playing
situations.
I fully recommend this publication to any
student of drumming or modern phrase concepts. Finally I would
like to say that ultimately studying with Barry can be summed
up in one phrase------"A lot of fun."
Bruce Anthon ( drummer and private student
of 18 years ).
